When 25-year-old Judson Moss Bemis founded his bag manufacturing business in 1858, he had little idea the global packaging powerhouse it would become. From humble beginnings supplying cotton bags for milled food and grain, Bemis grew his small business into the largest bag manufacturing company in the United States.

As paper bags gained popularity, the Bemis Company built its first paper mill in 1913, beginning a steady expansion in the manufacture of paper products. Bemis continued to introduce unique bag making machines and bag styles that have revolutionized the paper packaging industry.
